Fingrid received additional time for developing hedging opportunities between Finland and Sweden

Fingrid received additional time from national regulatory authority to submit a proposal pursuant to ACER's decision 12/2022 to develop hedging opportunities between Finland and Sweden. Fingrid appealed against ACER’s decision to ACER’s Board of Appeal (BoA) in November 2022, but the BoA has not given a decision regarding the appeal. The new deadline set by the Energy Authority for submitting the proposal is two months from the date of receipt of the Board of Appeal decision.

In its decision, ACER obliged the transmission system operators in Finland and Sweden to develop necessary arrangements for the introduction of other hedging products besides long-term transmission rights to support the functioning of wholesale electricity markets and to improve hedging opportunities between Finland and Sweden. (ACER Decision no. 12/2022)

Fingrid appealed against ACER’s decision to ACER's Board of Appeal in November 2022, and the BoA held an oral hearing on the matter in May 2023. The BoA has not yet ruled on the matter, which is why Fingrid and Kraftnät Åland requested an extension of time to submit the proposal. On 13 October 2023, the Energy Authority granted Fingrid additional time to submit the proposal, and the new deadline is two months from the date of receipt of the decision of ACER's Board of Appeal.
