Disturbance on Fenno-Skan 2 interconnection 5th July 2016

Fenno-Skan 2 interconnection between Finland and Sweden tripped 5th July 2016 at 12.22 (eet) from full 800 MW import from Sweden to Finland. Fingrid's Main Grid Control Center started reserve power plants in Finland altogether 710 MW and ordered from Estonia 100 MW to manage the flows in the grid. Previously ordered down regulations were stopped.
Fenno-Skan 2 was again back in operation on full load at 15.40, when reserve power plants were stopped. The cause of the disturbance may have been on auxiliary supply disturbed by lightning in Sweden, but detail investigation of the cause is still ongoing.
