Fingrid received ESRI's SAG 2015 award in the United States

ESRI presented its Special Achievement in GIS (SAG) award to Fingrid Oyj. The award is given each year to organisations around the world that excel in utilising geographical information technology.

The award was received by Fingrid's CIO Kari Suominen and land use and environmental specialist Pasi Turunen at ESRI's user conference in San Diego in July.

During 2012–2015, Fingrid carried out a project of unprecedented scope to overhaul its ERP and network information system, involving the integration of all information systems required for the life-cycle management of main grid assets. The new ELVIS asset management system comprises a total of eight integrated products. "Time and author information is basic information found in all information systems, but ELVIS system solutions enabled us to add location information to the basic information on main grid operations. With this solution, we can connect Fingrid's core business information with a location and thus present even more information on a map, which makes decision making easier and more efficient," says Fingrid's Grid Manager Marcus Stenstrand.

Kari Suominen notes that the rewarded project is an example of the opportunities offered by digitalisation. It can be seen in the cooperation carried out with clients and service suppliers, for example. Provided Information will always be available; the service is even faster and more individualised and will make use of many channels.
