Fenno-Skan 1 HVDC connection capacity reduction continues

The limitation of Fenno-Skan 1 connection will be extended until 1st September 2014, because the investigation of Fenno-Skan 1 cable failure needs wider and more exhaustive tests than anticipated earlier. During the limitation Fenno-Skan 1 capacity will be limited to 400 MW on May - September and to 450 MW on October - April. The total Fenno-Skan 1 and 2 capacity will be during summer period 1200 MW and during winter period 1250 MW.
Fenno-Skan 1, the 550 megawatt HVDC connection between Finland and Sweden, tripped from the grid 12th February 2013 due to an internal cable failure. The cable was repaired 12th April 2013, but the investigation into the cause of the failure continues.
