Cable failure on Fenno-Skan 1 interconnection

550 megawatt Fenno-Skan 1 interconnection between Finland and Sweden tripped Tuesday evening 12th February 2013 at 19:42 (eet). The location of the failure is at the front of Rihtniemi near Finnish coastline and it have been found by divers. The submarine cable is damaged due to an inner fault in the cable. The cause of the failure can be confirmed after the submarine cable has been lifted up. Planning of lifting is in progress.
The interconnection will be out of operation until the end of April 2013.
