Fingrid limits the transmission capacity between Finland and Sweden during the commissioning tests of Fenno-Skan interconnection. The lowest import capacity from Sweden to Finland is 200 megawatts during nights between 13th to 15th October. Fenno-Skan 1 HVDC connection was taken into operation in 1989 and its automation systems have been upgraded. In the future it will be controlled together with the Fenno-Skan 2 connection. The Fenno-Skan 1 and 2 interconnections with total capacity of 1350 megawatt constitute about a half of the transmission capacity between Finland and Sweden. The connections have also some special control systems, which will improve the reliability of Finnish and Nordic transmission system.
