Nordic TSOs published a shared forecast of power balance in the winter of 2011-2012

There will be a slight surplus in the Nordic power system during the peak hours of a cold winter day in the coming winter. The available production capacity and transmission connections will be sufficient to cover the demand.
The Nordic power balance will be a little poorer than last year, but there will still be a surplus in a very cold winter day, which occurs once every 10 years. Consumption has remained roughly at the earlier level, but the production capacity has decreased somewhat in the neighbouring countries of Finland. Finland continues to rely clearly on imports and Sweden and Denmark also have a small deficit, while Norway is clearly in surplus.

The Nordic power balance can be found on Nord Pool Spot’s website from link Nordic Winter Power Balance 2011-2012.

ENTSO-E, the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity, has published an outlook report of the coming winter, covering the whole Europe. The publication is based on information obtained from the transmission system operators.
