Contracts on continued maintaining of power reserve capacity
Having sent inquiries for quotations concerning new power reserve capacity, Fingrid has concluded the contracts on the maintaining of peak load power with the producers for the remaining period of the relevant act, 1 March 2009 to 28 February 2011. The second contract period covers the same power plants as the previous period: Mussalo 2 owned by Nokian Lämpövoima Oy, Vaskiluoto 3 owned by PVO Huippuvoima Oy and Kristiina 1 owned by PVO Lämpövoima Oy. The total capacity of the power plants is 600 MW. The annual costs for maintaining the power reserves have increased to 13 million euros as a result of the new contracts. The increased costs are based on the need for servicing the power plants during the contract period, necessary alteration work, and a general rise in the cost level. Based on the costs caused by the new contract period and estimated electricity consumption in Finland, the power reserve fee will increase from 0.15 EUR/MWh to 0.18 EUR/MWh from 1 April 2009. The fee will be revised when needed to correspond to the actual costs and electricity consumption.
