Transmission contracts from Russia to Finland in 2009

Fingrid, the Finnish transmission system operator (TSO), has made agreements with three electricity importers on electricity transmissions from Russia to Finland in 2009. The commercial capacity of the Russian cross-border connections is 1,300 megawatts (MW). The following companies are importing electricity from Fingrid Oyj Russian cross-border connections in 2009:

Total                                             1300 In accordance with a report submitted by Federal Grid Company (JSC "FGC UES"), the Russian TSO, the Russian electricity seller INTER RAO UES has agreed on electricity supply from Russia to Finland with the mentioned enterprises. The Fingrid's transmission agreements with the importers  apply for one year.
  As changes to previous agreements, the 100 minute guarantee (so-called priming) will be abolished from imports in disturbance situations, and the pan-European trading day (CET) used by the Nordic electricity exchange Nord Pool Spot will be applied to electricity imports from Russia.
There is ongoing development work with the Russian parties to amend the transmission conditions for imports of electricity from Russia so that the electricity market could be served better. The objective is to enable the new, increasingly market-focused import conditions during 2009.
