Nordel's proposal to enhance integration of the electricity markets

Nordel has sent a proposal to the EU Commission (DG TREN) and European Regulators' Group for Electricity and Gas (ERGEG). Nordel proposes that Central West European (Belgium, France, Germany, Luxembourg and the Netherlands) and Northern (Nordic countries) Regional Initiative groupings established by ERGEG in 2006 will be merged.

Between these regions concrete actions are going on with the objective to establish in the beginning of 2009 a common market covering almost half of the European electricity demand. Nordel's proposal is aimed at ensuring a coherent development of the market rules in both sub-regions.
