Extended ownership in Nord Pool Spot AS

(Oslo, 2 July 2002) On the 1 July, the five TSOs (Transmission System Operators) in the Nordic countries decided to extend the ownership in the newly created Nord Pool Spot AS. In the future, all TSOs plus Nord Pool ASA will be owners of the company.​The tasks of Nord Pool ASA and Nord Pool Spot are divided in the following way. Nord Pool Spot AS handles the physical power trade in the Nordic countries and Nord Pool ASA handles all financial power trade as well as physical power trade outside the Nordic area.

The two companies will maintain a very close co-operation and jointly provide an integrated marketplace for their customers.

The decision means that Nord Pool Spot AS will be owned by Svenska Kraftnät in Sweden, Statnett in Norway, Fingrid in Finland and Nord Pool ASA with 20 percent each of the shares. The remaining 20 percent of the shares will be distributed equally between the two Danish TSO companies Eltra on Jutland and Elkraft System on Zeeland. The transactions will be finalised as soon as possible.

Nord Pool ASA will continue to be owned by Svenska Kraftnät and Statnett with 50 percent each.
