Modernisation of Fingrid's Koria substation will improve operational reliability

Fingrid Oyj, which is responsible for the national electricity transmission grid in Finland, will modernise its Koria substation situated near Kouvola in Southern Finland. The main contractor in the renovation project costing approx. 0.7 million euro is YIT Kiinteistötekniikka Oy. The project will be ready in the summer of 2004.The Koria 400/110/20 kilovolt substation is an important link on the east-west transmission connection in Southern Finland, and it feeds electricity to industries and electricity distribution companies in the region.

The busbar arrangements at the 110 kV switchyard will be modified in order to limit short-circuit currents especially in exceptional connection situations. The modifications will secure electricity supply in the region.

Building work at the Koria substation will begin through foundation work and renewal of conductors and tubing in November. The high-voltage equipment will be installed and the necessary changes to the systems will be done during next spring. The entire modification project will be ready in June 2004.
