Modelling instructions

This page contains the up to date modelling instructions for simulation models submitted to Fingrid, as well as model test lists and other modelling related documents and publications. Previous versions are available under the "Previous versions" section on this page.

The required PSS/E and PSCAD simulation models are used for verifying the compliance of facilities and as part of wider power system studies.

The modelling instructions define the technical characteristics and functionalities that simulation models must include, the required level of modelling accuracy, and the documentation that must be submitted.

Fingrid verifies that all submitted simulation models comply with the applicable modelling instructions. To improve the transparency of this process, Fingrid has also publishes the test lists that specify in tabular form the minimum checks performed on the models, the methods used for those checks, and the acceptance criteria applied. The test list applicable to a simulation model depends on the grid code requirements applicable to the project (VJV, SJV, KJV).
