Fingrid to modernise a transmission line to improve the electricity network in Nurmijärvi

Finland’s transmission system operator Fingrid will modernise 11 kilometres of a 110-kilovolt transmission line in Nurmijärvi to improve the regional network. The section of the transmission line will be modernised on towers shared with Nurmijärven Sähkö to minimise the land-use impacts.

A 110-kilovolt transmission line in Nurmijärvi will be modernised to improve regional system security and boost the transmission capacity. The section of the transmission line will be modernised on towers shared with Nurmijärven Sähkö in an existing right of way. Shared towers eliminate the need to widen the transmission line’s right of way or create a new right of way, thereby minimising the transmission line’s land-use impact.

Modernising the transmission line will make it possible to improve the regional network and connect new projects in the region to the grid. For example, the project will enable Kesko to connect its planned logistics centre to Nurmijärven Sähkö’s network.

General planning of the transmission line project will be completed in summer 2023. Construction will begin in autumn 2024, and the project will be completed in 2025 or 2026.
