Feedback on the Climate Neutral Nordics scenario

The four Nordic transmission system operators, Energinet, Fingrid, Statnett and Svenska kraftnät have started the Nordic Grid Development Perspective 2021 (NGDP2021) project during the autumn 2020. A key part of the project is to create a common Nordic scenario, “Climate Neutral Nordics”. The companies organized a webinar to present the Climate Neutral Nordics scenario on 10.2.2021.

An important part of the NGDP2021 project is to ask stakeholder feedback on the Climate Neutral Nordics scenario. The feedback collection was closed on 17.2.2021. The Nordic TSOs would like to thank the stakeholders for providing their feedback. The received feedback helps us in developing the scenario and the NGDP2021 project.

Based on the feedback, the distribution of wind power capacity was changed in the base scenario for years 2030 and 2040 and the amount of offshore wind was increased.

We also received several suggestions regarding increasing or decreasing nuclear capacity and increasing or decreasing onshore and offshore wind capacity. Based on the feedback, we will carry out sensitivity analyses on these aspects or, for instance, investigate these aspects in the focus area analyses of the project:  Offshore wind, North-South transfer issue, and Resource adequacy.

In addition, during the webinar on 10.2.2021 we received several questions regarding the Climate Neutral Nordics scenario and the NGDP project. We have now published the answers to those questions, which we did not have time to discuss during the webinar. The answers are included in the attached file.
