Nordic publication on batteries in the Nordic reserve markets
Flexibility will play a central part in the current transition of the Nordic power system. Batteries are flexible by design and can provide multiple services to the system, both as grid support and as market participants in the energy and reserve markets.
There is an increasing need for flexibility in the Nordic energy and reserve markets, and batteries have the technical capability to participate in all Nordic reserve markets. To encourage more flexibility from batteries, the Nordic TSOs (Energinet, Fingrid, Statnett, and Svenska kraftnät) have made a common leaflet highlighting the opportunities and challenges for batteries in the reserve markets.
The TSOs will host national events to present the leaflet. The events will also give a possibility for participants to ask questions and share their views. Event details will be available on each Nordic TSO's website soon. The details of Fingrid's event will be soon available on the Reserve Market Service's event page.
