Fingrid’s annual report ranked best among unlisted companies

The Finnish Association of Communications Professionals (Procom) named Fingrid Oyj’s annual report as the best among unlisted companies. In addition to financial reporting, the main goal of Fingrid’s annual report is to describe how the company is laying the foundations for a clean electricity system and playing its part in helping Finland reach its objective of becoming carbon neutral.

Fingrid Oyj ranked first among unlisted companies in ProCom’s annual report review. The panel particularly appreciated the professionalism and consistency of Fingrid’s publication. The panel found that the sustainability indicators and targets were reported in a way that incorporates sustainability into the company’s strategic objectives.  

“The annual report is an important part of Fingrid’s stakeholder communications. It brings together different perspectives on the company’s fascinating journey as a critical player in the construction of a clean electricity system for Finland,” states Jukka Ruusunen, Fingrid’s President & CEO.

ProCom’s review of annual reports aims to help organisations create illustrative, up-to-date and functional financial and investor communications. Annual reports are evaluated by four specialists with extensive experience in annual reporting, annual reports, financial communications and sustainability reports.

  • The annual report, financial statements and notes to the statements were evaluated by Mirel Leino, a Professor of Practice at Aalto University, along with a group of students from the Department of Accounting & Business Law.
  • The quality and readability of the content were evaluated by Raine Tiessalo, Editor-in-Chief and Partner at MustRead Executive.
  • Sustainability was evaluated by Kaisa Kurittu, a responsible investor and advocate of compelling sustainability communications.
  • The visual appearance and usability of the online annual report were evaluated by Jesper Vuori, Art Director and Strategist at Miltton, and Pekka Piippo from Studio Pekka Piippo Oy.

 

The annual report is available in Finnish and English on the company’s website at https://annualreport2019.fingrid.fi, where users can also download it as a PDF using the download basket function.

The annual report describes Fingrid’s significant positive handprint as part of the energy revolution and its efforts in helping to reach climate goals. Corporate responsibility is reported as part of the annual report, applying the principles of integrated reporting. The corporate responsibility information is audited by an independent third party. In addition to conventional financial reporting, the financial statements explain the financial and regulatory logic in text and images.
