Technical Requirements for Fast Frequency Reserve have been published

The Nordic transmission system operators are preparing to implement Fast Frequency Reserve (FFR) to handle low inertia situations. Operating conditions with low inertia have become more frequent in the Nordic power system, and at times the inertia is so low that the current reserve products alone are not sufficiently fast. The goal is to have the new reserve in operation in the summer of 2020.

Fingrid has published the common Nordic report "Technical Requirements for Fast Frequency Reserve Provision in the Nordic Synchronous Area". It describes the technical requirements for FFR as well as requirements for compliance verification and information exchange.
