Fingrid to publish real-time data on carbon dioxide emissions from electricity production
Fingrid has started to publish real-time data on carbon dioxide emissions from electricity production. The calculation will provide an indicative estimate of the environmental impact of electricity production and consumption. The calculation is based on Fingrid’s operation control data and specified emission coefficients.
Fingrid will start publishing real-time data on carbon dioxide emissions from electricity production. The real-time CO2 calculation assesses the carbon dioxide emissions from both Finnish electricity production and the production of electricity that is consumed in Finland.
The CO2 calculation will provide an indicative estimate of the environmental impact of electricity production and consumption. The CO2 graph visualises, for example, how emissions from electricity production correlate with the import of electricity or how emissions from electricity production depend on the forms of electricity production that are currently in use.
The calculation is based on real-time production and import/export data from Fingrid’s operation control system as well as specified emission coefficients. The calculation and calculation methods are explained in greater detail here:
