Fingrid the world’s best transmission system operator in the energy competition CHARGE Awards 2018

Fingrid has been chosen as the world’s best transmission system operator in the international energy sector brand competition CHARGE Awards 2018.  The competition was being organised for the third time at the Branding Energy seminar in Iceland.

The energy sector is becoming increasingly prominent in society. At the same time, the sector’s brands are attracting an increasing amount of attention. This year, CHARGE Awards 2018 for companies in the sector had five categories: best established brand, best challenger brand, best green brand, best transmission brand and best product brand. Fingrid won the category of the world’s best transmission brand.

Companies were evaluated on diverse criteria, such as the solutions by which they serve their customers and how they distinguish themselves from the competitors in their category. The winners were selected based on the opinions of a panel of experts, a consumer survey and the results of an independent analysis. The panel consisted of ten experts of energy and branding as well as business consultants who nominated candidates as the world’s best energy brands.

At the Branding Energy seminar, there were presentations on the direction of development of the sector and why sectors operators should focus on their brand. Considering renewable energy as part of the energy system is a clear focal point throughout the world.

The best product brand also from Finland

Here are the brands evaluated as the best in the competition in the different categories:

- Best established brand: e-on
- Best challenger brand: Powershop
- Best green brand: ekWateur
- Best transmission brand: Fingrid
- Best product brand: Virta

"This is the third time that we have been nominated as a contender in the challenging CHARGE Awards competition, which means being amongst the world’s best three transmission system operators. This time we won. Our fellow competitors came from Ireland and Canada. We were in a very demanding category, but ultimately victory was clear. I would like to thank our customers and all Fingrid personnel for our award,” says Tiina Miettinen, Senior Vice President, Personnel and Communications.

Finnish success was doubled when Virta, a supplier of smart charging points for electric vehicles, won the best product brand category. Helen from Helsinki was also nominated as a contestant in the best established brand category.

We congratulate all the finalists and winners!
