Real-time publication of mFRR energy prices has started

Fingrid has launched a pilot for the real-time publication of mFRR energy prices, where the price of mFRR energy is published at the moment of activation.

The prices are published in Fingrid’s open data in the following datasets:

  • mFRR Scheduled Activation Price – Real-time Publication (ID 400): 7.5 minutes before the start of the market time unit

  • mFRR Direct Activation Upward Regulation Price – Real-time Publication (ID 401): at the moment of direct activation

  • mFRR Direct Activation Downward Regulation Price – Real-time Publication (ID 402): at the moment of direct activation

The scheduled activation price is either the price obtained from the Nordic mFRR energy market or a price based on locally selected bids, and the direct activation prices are based on locally selected bids.

It should be noted that the published prices are not necessarily the final mFRR energy prices; the final prices are published within 30 minutes after the end of the market time unit. Fingrid may suspend real-time price publication if it negatively affects the operational security of the power system or the forecasting of the power system’s state.
