Production plans of balance responsible parties may change due to new balance management terms

New terms and conditions concerning balance management approved by the Finnish Energy Authority will be applied on June 11, 2025. As a result, there may be changes to the production plans of balance responsible parties that must be implemented before the terms come into effect.

With the change, the threshold for forming aggregated plans will be 10 MW instead of the previous 100 MW. In the future, power plants under 10 MW, which are located in the same transmission area and have the same production type, can be combined into the same regulation object. All power plants of at least 10 MW will be required to deliver their own production plans.

As an exception to this, power plants located in the same transmission area that are regulated as a single entity, such as a river system, can form a single regulation object under certain conditions defined in the terms approved by the Finnish Energy Authority.

Fingrid will propose the structure of future production plans to the affected balance responsible parties and will contact those concerned separately between April and May. Please note that the compliance and accuracy of the production plans remain the responsibility of the balance responsible party.

Questions related to the change can be sent to taseselvitys@fingrid.fi.
