The Energy Authority’s decision on peak load reserve procurement – Fingrid will update the assessment of electricity adequacy during week 38

On 16 September 2022, the Energy Authority decided to halt the procurement of the peak load reserve (strategic reserves) – no sites will be included in the peak load reserve for next winter.

It is also Fingrid’s view that in the current highly exceptional situation, it is important to keep all power plants that are capable of continuous electricity generation on the market in both Finland and the rest of the common market.

During week 38, Fingrid will update the electricity adequacy assessment published in August after  more information has been obtained on the possibilities  of the parties involved in the competitive bidding for the peak load reserve to participate in the electricity market.
