Fingrid's grid code requirements set for wind power plants has been updated

Fingrid has updated its grid code requirements set for wind power plants. In practice the appendices 2 and 3 of Fingrid's specifications set for operational performance of power plants (abbr. VJV2007) has been replaced by new appendices 2 - 6.

The main scope of the update has been extension of the VJV2007 requirements to cover also wind turbine generators and wind power plants with rated power within range 0.5 - 10 MVA. The requirements defined for units with rated power within range 0.5 - 10 MVA have been derived based on requirements for units with rated power higher than 10 MVA taking into consideration the typical connection voltages and arrangements that apply for units with 0.5 - 10 MVA rating.

Additionally, the background documentation of VJV2007 required to clarify the wind power related requirements e.g. with respect to compliance testing requirements and related practices has now been implemented as integral part of updated appendices. The updated appendices also summarize the general practices related to provision of power plant documentation and compliance as a process. Also a summary about the structure and the main items of the updated requirements is provided in format of presentation "Specifications for the operational performance of wind plants in connection of wind power project".

Fingrid will revise its specifications set for operational performance of the power plants (i.e. grid connection requirements for generators) completely during year 2012 and the present update will serve as basis for that revision considering the requirements set for wind power plants.
