Visulahti substation completed

Fingrid Oyj, which is responsible for the main electricity transmission grid in Finland, has commissioned the 400/110 kV (kilovolt) substation located at Visulahti in Mikkeli in Eastern Finland.The new substation built at Visulahti north-east of Mikkeli will improve the operational reliability of the main grid and secure electricity transmission in the region. The substation was provided with 400 and 110 kV switchyards and a 400 MVA transformer. In conjunction with the project, the 400 kV transmission line from Huutokoski to Yllikkälä, which ran in the vicinity of the substation, was connected to the station, and extensive rearrangements were carried out on the 110 kV lines. The substation has an operation control system based on a broadband connection as well as a camera surveillance system. The main contractor in the project worth approx. 10 million euros was Empower Oy. The subcontractor in the construction work was the Finnish Road Enterprise. Further information:
