Fingrid Enters into Electricity Disturbance Reserve Agreement with Seven Industrial Enterprises

Fingrid Oyj, the company responsible for the management and maintenance of the Finnish national power transmission grid, has made agreements with seven industrial enterprises concerning disconnectable loads to be used as power system disturbance reserves.These agreements cover possible disturbances in the power transmission system, such as a malfunction at a major power plant. The new agreements also take into account power system reliability requirements after the fifth nuclear power plant comes on-line. The disconnectable loads have been agreed upon with companies in the wood processing, chemical, and metal industries. The agreements provide for a total power of around 1000 megawatts and will be in effect from 2005 to 2015. Further information:
