Pile driving machine caused line failure in Vantaa

Disturbance in electricity transmission on 28 October at 10.56. An accident which occurred during pile driving work by a house building contractor caused disturbance on the Tammisto – Myyrmäki 110 kilovolt electricity transmission line in Southern Finland on Tuesday morning.
The accident caused no personal injury, but some power production in the Helsinki region was disconnected from the grid as a result of the voltage dip which is typically related to a disturbance of this type. Moreover, one 110 kilovolt substation had a short operating interruption, which is why for instance train traffic stopped for a while.

The protection and operation control of the national transmission grid worked as planned during the disturbance.
