Fingrid’s ISO 27001 information security certificate has been renewed

Finland’s transmission system operator Fingrid’s information security management system meets the requirements of the international ISO 27001 standard. Fingrid’s investments in information security have led to the renewal of its ISO 27001 certificate.

As an organisation vital for the security of supply, it is important for Fingrid to act in accordance with internationally recognised standards in terms of information security. Achieving ISO 27001 certification requires continuous maintenance and development of information security in order to meet the requirements. The company was first granted a certificate in 2022, and the certificate has since been audited at yearly intervals. During the 2025 spring audit, it was also upgraded from version 2013 to version 2022. The audit was carried out by KPMG.

The certificate was received by Pasi Aho (left), Fingrid Datahub's CEO, and Kari Suominen, Fingrid's CIO. Olli Knuuti from KPMG is on the right.

The audit went through the entire information security management model, which covers all of Fingrid’s and Fingrid Datahub’s current operations. The information security certificate indicates that Fingrid manages information security in a comprehensive manner and commits to its continuous development. The company's information security management model was found to be comprehensive and to meet the requirements for certification.

“The information security playing field is very broad these days. Firewalls and antivirus software alone are no longer enough, although they are still important. With the aid of the ISO 27001 management model, we can cover administrative information security in a standardised and continuously evolving way. The standard also provides better coverage for technical information security.”
