Error in imbalance pricing

Fingrid identified an error in the imbalance pricing during the period from May 6 to August 25. The error has also affected the energy compensation for the FCR-N reserve. The error has been corrected in eSett’s data starting from May 6, and the impacts caused by the error will be rectified as part of eSett’s correction invoicing.

The error has occasionally led to average imbalance prices being too low when the dominating direction is down. The error occurred in less than 5% of market time units (quarters). Specifically, the value used for avoided activation in the calculation of the aFRR energy market volume-weighted average price had an incorrect sign due to a configuration error. The reference price for avoided activation is the Finnish bidding zone day-ahead market price.
