Changes to Fingrid’s website

Fingrid’s website has been upgraded. As the number of site visitors has grown and general interest in the company has increased, a number of structural changes and usability improvements have been made to the site. The redesign aims to provide visitors with an even smoother experience on Fingrid's website

Changes have been made especially to the main navigation menu, the front page and the megamenu menus. The number of site visitors started to rise when the energy crisis hit and has grown manyfold since then. The site currently has more than 350,000 visitors per month on average, with a peak figure of over 750,000 monthly visitors.  

The most popular content on the site, State of the power system, is now easier to find. Key figures are now displayed at the top of the front page and updated every three minutes. 

The navigation structure of the site has also been redesigned. Previously, the main navigation menu was two-tiered, with the About Fingrid and Investors content in the top navbar. Now all key information is available in the main navigation menu. In addition, the News menu of the Finnish-language site has been retitled “News and Events” to better reflect the content and to make it easier to find information about, for example, events organised by Fingrid for stakeholders.

The news listing on the front page has changed. There is now much more interest in Fingrid’s news releases than before. The redesign of the news listing aims to better focus on the most relevant message for stakeholders at any given moment. Other changes have been made to the front page. For instance, shortcuts have been moved to the top of the page.

The redesigned secondary menu, the megamenu, can be found by clicking on the main navigation bar. The megamenu is an expandable menu that was introduced to improve usability and navigation within the menu structure.

The site header still includes the content that typically belongs there, such as contact details, a login link, language selection and a search function. The content of the footer has been streamlined.

The changes also apply to mobile use and versions in different languages.
