National mFRR capacity market has been succesfully transferred to new Fifty NMMS market platform

Fingrid has successfully transferred the national mFRR capacity market from the current Vaksi market platform to the new Nordic Fifty NMMS market platform on 12th November. From now on Fifty NMMS will be the primary market platform for mFRR capacity market, with Vaksi remaining as a backup system.

Transferring the national mFRR capacity market to Fifty NMMS market platform is the first phase of inauguration of Nordic mFRR capacity market. In the second phase the capacity market is expanded to cover Fingrid’s, Svenska Kraftnät’s and Energinet DK’s market areas. Schedule for inauguration of the second phase is 19th November. Expanding the mFRR capacity market to Nordic level does not require any changes from market participants.

With the capacity acquired from the MFRR capacity market, Fingrid ensures that sufficient frequency restoration reserve is available at any given time to maintain the power balance between production and consumption, and to ensure the system security of the electricity transmission network. Balancing capacity for the market is provided by various reserve suppliers.

Fingrid wants to thank all BSP’s for their active participation in the testing and go live of the new market platform.
