Electricity consumption in Finland is used for financing the system for maintaining the peak load reserve during the remaining period of the relevant Finnish act, i.e. 1 January 2009 to 28 February 2011.
Peak load reserve fees
0,14 €/MWh 1.-28.2.2011
0,10 €/MWh 1.11.2010-31.1.2011
0,19 €/MWh 1.1.-31.10.2010
The fee was revised to correspond to the actual costs and actual electricity consumption in February 2011. The peak load reserve fee is levied monthly in conjunction with grid invoicing using an energy-based tariff.
In January and February 2010, peak load reserve capacity was activated on two days in the Elspot market in Finland and Sweden. On 8 January 2010 between 8 and 11 am, a maximum of 45 MW of peak load reserve bids were activated in Finland and a maximum of 145 MW in Sweden. The Mussalo 2 power plant in Finland was started, and it also produced some of the peak load reserve need for Sweden.
On 22 February 2010 between 9 and 12 am, a maximum of 57 MW of peak load reserve bids were activated in Finland and a maximum of 172 MW in Sweden. The full peak load reserve capacity was started in Sweden, but no peak load reserve plants were started in Finland on that day.
