Access to the Main Grid

Access to the main grid is agreed through the Connection Agreement, signed separately between each customer or connectee and Fingrid. The Connection Agreement specifies among other things ownership and risk boundaries, responsibility on operation and maintenance as well as compensation for access rights.

The General Connection Terms, document that is an integral part of the Connection Agreement, is to specify the general technical terms for electrical equipment to be connected to the Fingrid's main grid. In case of a power plant is being connected to the grid, the Connection Agreement is supplemented further with the Specifications for Operational Performance of Power Plants. Validity of the General Connection Terms as well as of the Specifications for Operational Performance of Power Plants is extended to the customer's grid and connectees through the terms stated in the Connection Agreement.

Both documents have been verifyied by Energy Market Authority by virtue of the Electricity Market Act. These documents have also been supplemented with other guidelines and principles describing the planning of a connection to the main grid and a connection of a power plant.
