Reserve power plants

Fingrid's capacity

Fingrid administers 819 MW of rapidly starting gas turbine capacity fired with light fuel oil. Most of this, 615 MW, is own and the remainder is available to it through agreements. Fingrid Oyj uses this capacity as fast reserves for the needs of the power system.

Olkiluoto's gas turbine power plant project

The Olkiluoto gas turbine plant is ready, and it was commissioned by Fingrid on 1 December 2007.The plant has been executed in co-operation with Teollisuuden Voima Oy. In the summer of 2008, the plant will be subject to finishing work aiming at the introduction of the plant for TVO’s needs, too. Once fully complete, the plant will contribute to Fingrid’s fast power reserves and secure the supply of electricity to TVO’s nuclear power plants in the event of a potential disturbance in the Finnish electricity transmission grid.
